Assistive Technology
Assistive Technology, also known as AT, often plays a vital role in the lives of people with disabilities. But often when someone thinks of AT, they envision a product with a large price tag attached to it. But often that is not the case. According to the Assistive Technology Act, assistive technology is any item, piece of equipment, or product system, whether acquired commercially, modified, or customized, that is used to increase, maintain, or improve the functional capabilities of individuals with disabilities.
There are many resources for AT: Tech Act projects, Matrix, Alliance, RESNA, and possibly even your UCP affiliate. To find more resources you can also use discussion groups, support groups, the Internet.
